unfamiliar to her but amazingly advanced to what was available on Earth.
There weren t any supermarkets they grew their own food or shopping centers, although
the guys had a hell of a collection of things from raids throughout the years.
She d found a translation device among their spoils . Of course, she hadn t realized that was
what it was just at first, but she d played around with it carefully until she d discovered what
it was and how to make it work. She and Topaz and Dena had been working with it secretly for
a while, trying to master the language of their guys, whom they d finally discovered called
themselves Furians.
Unfortunately, they hadn t really made a lot of progress before the babies came and afterward
they didn t have a lot of time for working on it.
Cara discovered she d picked up more of the language than she d realized, though, one day
not long after Sheila was born.
She d finally decided that she was sick of being cooped up inside and that she was well
enough to work in the garden even if the guys didn t think so.

She d found them cooing over the baby in her basket near the garden instead of working.
They made such a lovely picture together that she d stopped to admire them and enjoy her
amusement before she let them know she was there.
Eavesdropping was never a good thing!
But then, she hadn t actually meant to.
She is beautiful.
Like her mother.
I thought she favored me, Dagon put in.
Gilen and Joar exchanged a look.
I said she was beautiful, Gilen reminded him. She wouldn t be if she looked like you.
Dagon sent him a deadly look. You re so humorous!
Are you going to tell Cara that they discovered where Earth is? Joar asked, changing the
subject abruptly and making Cara s heart stand still.
The amusement left Dagon s face. I don t see that we have much choice. She will begin to
suspect anyway if the others find a mate among her people and then she will be justifiably angry
that we didn t tell her.
Gilen swallowed a little sickly. What if she won t stay when she finds out? What if she
demands we take her back to her people?
We will tell her that we love her and we want her to stay, but she must decide that for
herself. It must be her choice to stay. I m not sure any of us could ever be truly happy if we
must live with the belief that she only stayed because she didn t know there was another option.
Cara wasn t certain what made her happier the discovery that they really did love her and
wanted her even though they d found Earth and could have chosen someone else. Or the fact
that they d found Earth and that meant she had the possibility of seeing her family again when
she d thought that was lost forever.
She didn t realize she was crying as she rushed to them until Dagon pushed her away and
cupped her face to study her worriedly. Hurt?
She shook her. Happy, she said in their language.
All three looked startled and then pleased. She thought they were as pleased that she d used
their word for it as they were for the fact that she was happy.
Dagon happy also too, he responded in English.
She chuckled at his sentence structure. He was getting better but she still spent a good bit of
time translating. Love Cara? she asked, touching her chest as she had long ago when she d
told him her name.
She thought when she saw the gleam in his eyes that he remembered that, too, and the way
he d teased her. He grabbed both boobs. Love Cara.
She frowned at him. True?
He gathered her close. Most truly. Love Cara more than & . Breathe.
He was so romantic!
Joar love more Cara than live, Joar put in before Gilen could say anything.
Gilen clamped his jaws together and glared at Joar. Love Cara most, Gilen claimed
somewhat sullenly.
Cara made the rounds with kisses and hugs. I love all of you and I wouldn t leave you even
if I could. You know that, right?
They looked a little confused and then uneasy.
Hear we found Earth?

She nodded. More importantly, I heard that you guys love me and want me to stay.
They looked relieved.
Now that we ve got that settled, she said, we ll have to go to visit my family when we go
to Earth! I can t wait to show them the baby! She stopped, considered what her family would
think about her new family and chuckled. They are going to pass out when they find out all
three of you fathered the baby!

Chapter One
There was no question about the precise moment the drop ship entered the planet s
atmosphere. The troop carrier began to shimmy. The vibrations increased exponentially as they
dropped lower until it reached a point where it felt like it would liquefy flesh, bones, and teeth,
